Finding legal representation during a divorce should not be another source of stress. Divide makes it straightforward. Verified attorneys, real reviews, transparent fees.
Divide connects verified divorce attorneys with people who are actively searching for representation. Your profile features your credentials, your reviews, and your real calendar availability.
We built Divide because finding a divorce attorney should not feel like a second full-time job. Here is exactly what to expect.
Enter your ZIP code or city. Divide shows you every verified divorce attorney in your area, sorted by proximity, rating, and availability. Every attorney on the platform has been independently verified against their state bar record before appearing in results.
Each attorney profile shows Google reviews pulled directly from their Google Business listing alongside reviews from verified Divide clients who completed a consultation. Both sources are clearly labeled so you always know where a review originates.
Every attorney on Divide offers a free 30-minute initial consultation. You choose a time from their real calendar. A Zoom link is sent to your email immediately upon confirmation. Nothing is charged until you choose to engage an attorney directly.
After your consultation, the decision is entirely yours. If this attorney is the right fit, you proceed directly with them. If not, return to Divide and schedule with another. There is no fee and no obligation at any point in this process.
From the moment you speak with an attorney, everything you share is legally protected. Attorney-client privilege means your attorney cannot disclose what you discuss, even if asked. This protection begins with your very first conversation, including the free consultation you schedule through Divide.
Every attorney listed on Divide is verified against their state bar record before their profile is published. We confirm that their license is active and in good standing, that they are admitted to practice in the state where they are listed, and that their stated areas of practice reflect their professional history. Attorneys are re-verified annually.
Divide displays two sources of reviews on every profile. Google reviews are pulled from the attorney's public Google Business listing. Divide reviews are submitted by clients who booked and completed a consultation through our platform. Only verified clients may leave a Divide review. Both sources are clearly labeled.
Divorce law varies significantly by state. This page provides a plain-language overview of the most common areas. It is intended for general education and does not constitute legal advice.
Most states divide marital property fairly, not necessarily 50/50. Courts look at the full picture before deciding what each spouse receives.
Courts make custody decisions based on one standard: the best interests of the child. Two types of custody can each be awarded separately.
Every state calculates support using its own formula, but the same core factors appear almost everywhere.
Also called alimony or maintenance. It is not automatic — judges weigh several factors before awarding it.
Knowing the difference helps set realistic expectations for cost and how long the process will take.
Often the fastest, least costly path to resolution. A neutral mediator helps both sides reach agreement without a courtroom.
Click any state on the map below. The key points of that state's divorce law will appear in plain language — what matters to you, not legal jargon.
If you are considering divorce, one of the most important early steps is gathering documentation of your financial situation. This includes bank statements, tax returns, retirement account statements, mortgage documents, and records of any assets or liabilities. Having this information organized before you meet with an attorney allows the consultation to be more productive.
You do not need to have made a final decision before speaking with an attorney. Many people use an initial consultation simply to understand their options. Knowing what the process involves reduces uncertainty and puts you in a stronger position regardless of what you ultimately decide.
This tool provides a general estimate based on commonly used income-share formulas. Results vary significantly by state and individual circumstance.
Enter monthly gross income for both parents and select a custody arrangement.
Most states use one of two models: the income shares model, which considers the income of both parents, and the percentage of income model, which applies a fixed percentage to the paying parent's income. The income shares model is more common and is the basis for the estimate above.
Beyond base income, courts may also factor in health insurance premiums paid on behalf of the children, childcare costs related to employment, and any special or extraordinary expenses. These additions can meaningfully affect the final figure.
Child support orders can be modified if there is a substantial change in circumstances, such as a significant change in income, a change in the custody arrangement, or a change in the child's needs.
Divide was built on a simple premise: finding a divorce attorney should not add to the difficulty of an already difficult situation.
Divorce is one of the most consequential legal processes a person will ever navigate. The decisions made during this time affect finances, living arrangements, and in many cases the daily lives of children for years to come. The quality of legal representation matters enormously, yet the process of finding a qualified attorney has remained unnecessarily opaque.
Divide was created to change that. We built a platform where verified attorneys present their credentials, their fees, and their availability transparently. Where real client reviews are displayed alongside publicly available Google ratings. Where someone can schedule a free consultation in minutes.
We are not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice. We are a directory and scheduling platform that removes the friction between people who need legal help and attorneys who are qualified to provide it.
Every attorney on Divide is verified against their state bar record before their profile is published. We confirm that their license is active and in good standing, that they are admitted to practice in the state where they are listed, and that their stated areas of practice reflect their professional history. Attorneys are re-verified annually.

Divide is a directory and scheduling platform. We connect individuals seeking legal representation with licensed divorce attorneys. We are not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice. Nothing on this platform constitutes legal advice, and no attorney-client relationship is formed with Divide through your use of this platform.

We verify attorney credentials against state bar records at the time of listing and on an annual basis. We do not guarantee the accuracy of attorney-provided information including stated specialties, experience, or availability.
